Specification interpretation

Ultrafabrics material review, without portfolio-wide shortcuts

This page describes an informational review path. It does not promise testing, manufacturing, stocking, sampling, procurement or supply services. The useful starting point is a named collection, a named colorway and a defined application.

01

Identify the current collection

Begin with Brisa, Promessa, Tottori, Ultraleather, Volar Bio, Wired, Montage or another current collection shown in official resources. A family name is not enough when variants carry different constructions or use boundaries. Brisa, Brisa Distressed and outdoor-oriented Brisa variants should not be treated as interchangeable. Record the full material and colorway before comparing any data.

02

Read composition at product scope

A polycarbonate polyurethane surface and textile backing are documented for specific products, but the exact fiber percentages and layer descriptions belong to their published specification. Do not copy a Brisa construction into a statement about Montage, Volar Bio or the entire portfolio. If a document does not state a layer, the review should mark it as unresolved rather than infer it from appearance.

03

Keep performance beside its method

Hydrolysis resistance may reference ASTM D3690 Section 6.11 and ISO 1419 Method C. Abrasion may use Wyzenbeek double rubs or Martindale rubs. These are different reporting systems, and a number without its method, specimen and current document is incomplete. Breathability, sound absorption, UV exposure and cleanability are also collection-specific—not automatic properties of every coated upholstery material.

04

Match the complete assembly and environment

Furniture, healthcare, hospitality, transportation and outdoor settings introduce different cleaners, seams, cushions, exposure patterns and regulatory requirements. A surface result does not approve the finished seating assembly. Confirm compatibility with threads, foam, adhesives and cleaning protocols, and distinguish interior upholstery from collections explicitly documented for exterior use.

05

Record limitations before selection

A published abrasion figure does not predict every real wear pattern. Hydrolysis testing accelerates heat and humidity but does not reproduce every maintenance regime. Cleaner compatibility can depend on concentration, contact time and residue removal. Colorfastness, antimicrobial treatment and flammability statements must remain attached to the exact product and test. Where evidence is absent, the correct outcome is an open question.

Frame one precise material question

Provide the collection, colorway, use environment and document or method you want interpreted.
